How Much Does a Rhinoplasty Cost? What Determines the Price

Wondering what a rhinoplasty costs? Dr. Bart explains what determines the price and how to get a personal, reliable quote.

How Much Does a Rhinoplasty Cost? What Determines the Price

One of the questions I hear most often during a first conversation is: "Dr. Bart, what does a rhinoplasty actually cost?" The honest answer is: it depends on the person. In this article, I explain which factors determine the price of a rhinoplasty, what is and isn't included in that price, and how you can get a reliable, personal quote from me.

Why the price differs from person to person

No two noses are the same, so no two procedures are either. The price of a rhinoplasty depends on several factors that I assess individually for every patient.

Open or closed technique

With a closed rhinoplasty, I work through the nostrils, leaving no visible scar. With an open rhinoplasty, I also make a small incision at the base of the nose, which gives better visibility for more complex corrections. The closed technique is often somewhat less involved; which approach is needed depends on your nose and your wishes. (I go into more detail in my article on open versus closed rhinoplasty.)

Aesthetic, functional, or both

Do you want to change the appearance of your nose only, or is there also a functional issue, such as a deviated septum or a blocked nose? A combined procedure takes more time in the operating room than a purely aesthetic correction, and that is reflected in the price.

Complexity of the procedure

A first-time correction is usually less complex than a revision. In a revision rhinoplasty, the cartilage and connective tissue have already been worked on before, which makes the procedure technically more demanding and more time-consuming. Factors such as thick skin, a pronounced hump, or a wide nasal base can also affect complexity, and therefore the price.

Anaesthesia and surgical facilities

The cost of the anaesthesiologist, the operating room, and the aftercare facilities are all part of the total price. You don't pay for these separately, but they explain why a rhinoplasty costs more than, for example, a filler treatment.

What is included in the price?

At Dr. Bart Clinic, the process involves more than just the surgery itself. The price I give you includes:

  • The intake consultation and photo simulation, in which we discuss together what is possible and desirable.
  • The surgery itself, including anaesthesia and use of the operating room.
  • The follow-up appointments after the procedure, including the moment the splint comes off.
  • Aftercare throughout the entire recovery period.

This way, you know exactly where you stand beforehand, with no surprises afterwards.

Insurance coverage

A purely aesthetic rhinoplasty, focused only on appearance, is not covered by health insurance. If there is a functional issue, such as a severely deviated septum that obstructs breathing, coverage is sometimes possible. Your health insurer assesses this on a case-by-case basis, based on medical necessity. During the intake consultation, I look at whether this applies to your situation.

How do you get a personal price quote?

I prefer not to list fixed prices on the website, simply because the exact price can only be determined after a proper assessment of your nose and your wishes. Here's how the process works:

  1. You send your details and a few photos of your nose through the contact form.

  2. I review your request and invite you for a personal consultation.

  3. During the consultation, we discuss your wishes, and I use a photo simulation to show you a realistic result.

  4. Based on that, you receive a clear, personal price quote, so you know exactly where you stand before making a decision.

Frequently asked questions about rhinoplasty costs

Is a rhinoplasty covered by health insurance?
Only if there is a functional issue, such as breathing obstruction caused by a deviated septum. A purely aesthetic correction is not covered. Your health insurer assesses this individually.

Can I pay for the treatment in instalments?
I'm happy to discuss this with you during the consultation, along with the rest of the price quote.

Is a cheaper rhinoplasty just as safe as a more expensive one?
Not necessarily, but a higher price is also no guarantee of quality. What matters more is the surgeon's experience, the facilities where the surgery takes place, and the aftercare provided. Always ask about your surgeon's qualifications and look at before-and-after photos of previous patients.

What does a revision rhinoplasty cost?
A revision is almost always more complex than a first procedure, which is reflected in a higher price. During the consultation, I assess exactly what is needed to achieve the result you're looking for.

Would you like a personal price quote?

The only way to know exactly what your rhinoplasty will cost is to have your situation assessed personally. Send your details and photos through the contact form. After reviewing your request, I'll invite you for a consultation, where we discuss your wishes and review the expected result using a photo simulation.
